I also have a fair amount of contact with those who work with adults with disabilities. My impression is that there are fewer fads being promoted in the adult disability sector, no doubt because the sector tends to be underfunded in South Africa (in contrast to schools). Thank you. As a longtime service provider for adults with severe disabilities, I've seen the fads come and go. Due to the bias on one recently hired local administrator, we are having to base the effectiveness of residential and vocational programs on the creation of a "culture of gentleness".
